Curator

Curator

A fresh identity for a holistic-minded clothing company.

Curator, founded by Deirdre Nagayama and Stacy Rodgers in 2005, is both a brick-n-mortar store as well as a clothing line. Their locally focused and eco-based mission is reflected in their work with independent craftspeople; their dedication to reducing their carbon footprint in their clothing production; and by having all of their garments made in the U.S., the majority of which are manufactured 3 miles from their store. ALTR and Curator have been working together since Curator's inception, so when the Curator team approached us to rebrand, we reshaped their visual identity while maintaining their eco-/local principles.

Crafting a visual identity and voice.

Our goals were to appeal to their base, the conscious consumer, as well as to the fashionista who isn’t interested in trendy, fast-fashion, and appreciates a clothing line that caters to all body shapes and sizes. To translate this visually, we customized the iconic, 70s inspired Bauhaus font so that the modern, clean double lines embody Curator’s playful yet elegant aesthetic.

We collaborated to revamp their logo and identity system to represent Curator’s ethos and motto “Know your clothes” creating a visual metaphor that is nimble across all their platforms: a sign on their flagship store; on hang tags & business cards; on products such as bandanas & candles; a branded video, and on their website.
